2005

Hazing · Chi Tau (unrecognized local, formerly Delta Sigma Phi chapter)

Status: Five members pleaded guilty to felony charges; jail sentences included one year and six months. The death led to California's 'Matt's Law' allowing felony hazing prosecutions.

Hazing · Pi Kappa Phi

An 18-year-old pledge died in October 2000 after drinking a large amount of blackberry brandy at a Pi Kappa Phi house party, passing out and suffocating.
