College staff misconduct · Accused: Fellow student (assault); institution (mishandling)

Years of abuse: 2022

The U.S. Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights found the conservatory was deliberately indifferent and violated Title IX in handling a 2022 complaint that a female student was sexually assaulted twice and stalked by a male student. The school agreed to reform its Title IX process.

Status: OCR finding and resolution agreement, January 2024

2009

College staff misconduct · Accused: Violin and chamber music professor

Years of abuse: 2007-2009

Two former students sued a former violin professor and the conservatory in December 2023, alleging he groomed and sexually assaulted them in 2007-2009 when they were 18, and that administrators knew of his unreported sexual relationships with students but took no action. The professor denies the allegations.

Status: Sued December 2023; school opened independent investigation 2022
