College staff misconduct · Accused: former head swimming and diving coach
Former swimmers alleged in a 2024 federal lawsuit that Kentucky's former head swimming and diving coach (assistant from 2012, head coach 2013-2023) created a sexually hostile environment in the swim program and committed numerous sexual assaults, and that the university hired him despite a prior warning about him.
Status: Alleged in a civil lawsuit; the claims against the former coach were resolved and dismissed with prejudice in August 2026. He was banned from coaching by the U.S. Center for SafeSport in 2025. Claims against the university and former athletics officials remain pending.
Response: The coach was allowed to resign in June 2023 while under investigation and received a $75,000 settlement; the university said it contacted and would cooperate with law enforcement.
