College staff misconduct · Accused: former graduate teaching assistant (French Studies)
Years of abuse: 2018-2020
Six women, including undergraduates, sued LSU in federal court in 2021 alleging that a French graduate student who served as a graduate teaching assistant raped two undergraduates (one in September 2020) and harassed others, and that department leaders and the Title IX office kept him in contact with students despite knowing of a 2018 rape arrest.
Status: Alleged in a federal civil lawsuit; separately indicted in Rapides Parish in February 2021 on a third-degree rape charge involving a University of Louisiana at Lafayette student; he left for France and an arrest warrant was issued.
Response: LSU removed the French Studies department chair after the lawsuit was filed; he had earlier been removed as a teaching assistant and suspended after an internal investigation.
