College staff misconduct · Accused: tenured associate professor of chemistry

Years of abuse: 2024

In late 2024 several students publicly accused a chemistry professor of non-consensual touching on the arms, lower back and upper thigh. One student reportedly filed a Title IX complaint about an office meeting in October 2024. The professor denied the claims.

Status: Alleged in student accounts and a reported Title IX complaint. No findings had been announced.

Response: The university removed the professor from teaching for the fall semester, and his lawyer said the removal was extended through the spring.

2017

Hazing · Phi Delta Theta

WashU investigated alleged hazing by its Phi Delta Theta chapter in spring 2017 and placed the chapter on suspension in December 2017.

Status: Suspension imposed by the university in December 2017, with an appeal pending. A new investigation into alleged suspension violations opened in 2018.

Response: Chapter barred from social events, recruitment, new member activities and chapter meetings.
