College staff misconduct · Accused: former university president; former vice president
Years of abuse: before 2018
A former student and university employee accused the university's longtime former president, and separately a former vice president, of unwanted sexual touching and advances. Other former male students and staff made similar allegations. An outside law firm hired by the regents found the first accuser 'generally credible'.
Status: Investigated by the university under Title IX and by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation. A special prosecutor announced in October 2020 that neither man would be indicted. A separate civil lawsuit against the former vice president was settled. The former president denied wrongdoing.
Response: The regents ended the Title IX matter in June 2019 when the former president resigned his emeritus and teaching roles.
