College staff misconduct · Accused: former women's basketball assistant coach
Years of abuse: 2022
A former Vanderbilt women's basketball player alleged in a 2023 lawsuit that an assistant coach groomed, exploited, sexually harassed and sexually abused her, and that Vanderbilt failed to have and enforce policies to prevent sexual abuse of student-athletes.
Status: Alleged in a civil lawsuit filed in July 2023 against Vanderbilt and the former coach (Title IX, negligence, negligent supervision, battery and assault claims); the allegations are unproven.
Response: Vanderbilt said it takes sexual misconduct seriously and that its policies address relationships between students and employees.
