College staff misconduct · Accused: former communication professor

A student reported that a communication professor made sexual advances in a hotel room after a night of drinking on a school trip in February 2018; other students also came forward.

Status: Found in a George Mason Title IX investigation to have engaged in sexual or gender-based harassment in one complaint (insufficient evidence in two others); he acknowledged an inappropriate conversation but denied other details.

Response: The university placed him on leave and began termination proceedings; he retired in May 2018.
