Sexual assault · Sigma Chi

A JMU student alleged that three Sigma Chi members sexually assaulted her during a March 2013 spring break trip to Florida, recording it on cell phones and sharing the video.

Status: A university judicial panel ordered 'expulsion after graduation' for the three men in 2014. The student filed a U.S. Department of Education complaint and in 2015 a federal Title IX lawsuit alleging JMU mishandled her case.

Response: JMU imposed post-graduation expulsions; it disputed the lawsuit's account. The fraternity expelled the three men.
